James Slater

CEO & Co-Founder

James co-founded ST&R in 2012 alongside his Wife, Natasha, to provide honest, straightforward and expert advice to customers.

Setting himself apart from strategic-focused CEOs, he is known for his hands-on approach, understanding the needs of ST&R at all levels, offering a wealth of ‘know-how’ in the ever-evolving financial services sector. James is an influential leader who remains committed to delivering the highest standards of innovation, consistently achieving improved performance across the ST&R board.

James is a dedicated family man. He is married to Natasha and they have three children. In the days before ST&R, he was an International Judo Coach.

Natasha is a successful businesswoman with a keen eye for detail. As an experienced business owner, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the ever-evolving marketplace. She employs effective work logic and is dedicated to implementing the right processes. Natasha is a respected and insightful member of the ST&R board.

Jermma

Jemma Holden

Chief Operating Officer

Jemma began her career as an inter-company accountant at AstraZeneca before moving into the FCA compliance and insurance sector. In 2007, at just 22 years old, she founded her first business, which she later merged with Manchester-based Reich Insurance in 2015. Building on this success, Jemma launched several ventures under the Revilo Group umbrella, including a mortgage and insurance company, an estate agency, and a successful auto business.

In 2025, she took on a new challenge with ST&R, attracted by the company’s growth and dynamic team. Beyond her professional achievements, Jemma is a proud mother of two.

Ross Harrington

Chief Client Officer

Ross joined ST&R in 2024, bringing 30 years of experience in managing large corporate businesses in both insurer and client environments across all regions, including London.

Ross is skilled at taking ownership and accountability for delivering strong solutions for insurers, brokers, and clients, with experience across sales and distribution, underwriting, product & propositions, claims, and risk management.

Being a board member of IUAD, Ross proudly represents ST&R in collaboration with the insurance market to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Roger Swansbury

Group Finance Director

Before joining ST&R, Roger held senior finance roles in owner-managed businesses, PLCs and internationally operating entities, specialising in high-growth and distressed businesses.

He holds a BSc in Mathematics and is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

In his spare time, Roger plays hockey at a high level and takes on challenges and adventures to raise money for charity – including breaking world records.

Sarah Griffiths

Operations Director

Sarah is the Group’s Operations Director and joined the company when it was founded in 2012, having previously worked for ST&R’s founder, James Slater.

She has gained extensive experience through holding various roles within the business, and was promoted to her current position in 2015. Sarah has developed a deep understanding of ST&R’s day-to-day needs. As Sarah has progressed through the company, she has gained experience in all aspects of ST&R, which gives her a distinct advantage in understanding the company’s operational needs.

Leanne Hodgson

Compliance Manager

Leanne is key to liaising with our providers to ensure that our teams deliver both up-to-the-minute recommendations and provide the very best advice to our customers.

With extensive experience in quality assurance, Leanne works with key brands, including Co-Operative, Barclays, and Nationwide. Leanne has extensive experience in finance, investment, mortgages, and onboarding sectors.

Sales Manager

Saq is a highly professional and experienced manager, known for his ability to lead his department effectively. He consistently delivers exceptional customer service and expects nothing but the best from himself and his team. With a strong background in operational management, Saq brings a wealth of experience from esteemed companies like Esure, Direct Line, and British Gas. His key skills include project management, mentorship, people development, and customer service.

Sales Manager

Lee is a dedicated individual who excels at overcoming challenges daily and possesses the skills and expertise to bring out the best in people, enabling his team to consistently exceed their clients’ expectations.

Lee has extensive experience in operational sales management, working with companies such as O2, British Gas & Talk Talk in both a B2B & Consumer capacity.

James has been with ST&R since 2016 and drives the mortgage arm of our business.

With 23 years of experience in the financial services industry, James has worked with market leaders such as CIS Insurance, Lloyds Banking Group and Countrywide. James ensures our customers receive the best advice possible for one of the most significant financial commitments of their lives.

Rebecca Bateson

HR Advisor

Rebecca has over 10 years of retail management experience and holds a Level 5 Diploma in People Management. She maintains a strong people-first approach to her HR role and is committed to supporting a positive and growth-focused workplace culture. Her role at ST&R includes onboarding, policy compliance, employee relations, and supports business changes in recruitment, compensation, and training. Rebecca is also passionate about HR technology and learning & development.

Lauren Berry

Business Processing Analyst

Lauren joined ST&R in Spring 2024 to lead the company’s digital transformation initiatives and manage the delivery of technically driven projects. She collaborates closely with all departments to optimise processes and implement effective business solutions that support Star’s strategic objectives.

Lauren thrives on delivering solutions that enhance customer service, drive business efficiency, and create seamless integrations that support long-term success.
